Question: I think I may have Lyme diease, Both of my dogs who sleep with me have had it, one twice. I have knee and hip pain that comes and goes. I am.66 but have never had a joint ache before. I have not had a bullseye rash to my knowledge but may have had flu like symptoms and few months ago. My Dr. Did a WBC To test for it. Is this adequate?

Brief Answer:
This test is not suggestive!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this joint pains that you have reported. I understand joint pains can be caused by Lymes disease and the fact that your dogs have had lyme's disease makes you concerned. However, it seems not to be the case here. Your symptoms are not very suggestive and the blood test shows nothing in support of a possible lyme's disease at this time. There is a serological test for lyme's disease which would provide more specific information regarding your status than a non specific blood test. Talk to your doctor about this.

In all, blood test is not sufficient to make the diagnosis of lymes disease. A serological marker would be a better option to test for this. Talk to your doctor about this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
