Suggest Treatment For Joint Pain, Hot Flashes And Swelling On Knukles

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Oct 2014
Question: I have been suffering from joint pain, hot flashes, sweats and leg fatigue.i also have swelling in my knuckles, I cannot fit my rings back on although I am only 10 pound heavier than I was before I was pregnant. I have and tests for ra, do not have the ra factor, my Ana was positive, but my primary said she checked for lupus and it was negative also lime negative twice and bcc normal. I still don't feel right. My face gets flushed for no reason as well and I am burning up right now. I had triplets a year ago and am on 60 mg cymbalta daily. For ppd and anxiety. Should I be concerned? Should I see a specialist. I am worried I either have something autoimmune going on or hormonal? My thyroid is apparently in the normal range. I have suffered from what I think I irritable bowel since I was a child as well, varying bouts of diarrhea and constipation, urgent stools or constipated seems to be the norm for me. Also incredibly sick after eTing things like icecream..

Brief Answer:
I think you should see a specialist.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that all the the symptoms that you are telling may be consistent with lupus and since your ANA is positive it is more likely a reason .

I would like to see the ANA report and titre in which it is positive . Even if the titre is low specialised tests like ENA profile , Anti dsDNA levels should be done . Plus urine should be looked for any evidence of proteinuria . Plus get your metabolic profile checked also like calcium levels , vitamin D levels etc.

Hormonal disturbance can also occur but since ANA has come positive I think we should investigate it first .Please see a rheumatologist for the same. If everything is fine on this side then you should go for endocrine evaluation.

Take care.
