Suggest Treatment For Kidney Cancer Metastasized To Small Nodules Between Lungs

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: If you had kidney cancer at a young age of 45 and they removed the kidney and somehow they didn't get it all and it matasasized to five small nodules between both lungs is there any hope for a cure or at least remission. My son has had thirty three treatments of Interlukein 11, but it worked some because it is hardly growing at all if any. What about SBRT? Does it effect your breathing? He is very healthy, only eats healthy, exercises regularly, not overweight, and continues to work very hard. Has no aches or pains.

He was going to the XXXXXXX Cancer Center in XXXXXXX but likes the doctor better at XXXXXXX Clinic. He had the Interlukein at XXXXXXX They are doing trial treatments on him. I understand there may be more trials in September 2015, but right now he just goes for scans every month. He doesn't discuss it much so I just worry to myself.

Brief Answer:
Pet scan every 6 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Kidney cancer diagnosed at young age can be kept under control.

Though it has metastasized to five small nodules between both lungs but with Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and Interlukein therapy the tumour can be kept under control for about 5 years.

SBRT does not effect breathing.

I will advise your son to do PET scan every 6 months for 5 years.

You do not need to worry and since your sons tumour has been diagnosed at an early age there is still hope.
