Question : After a bad bruise healed i have a large indentation (about 3 inches long and deep, right under buttock). Very noticeable. Will it go away? And is there any way to speed up the healing? It looks...horrible.

Hi XXXXXX,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic for your health related query.

You haven't mentioned the cause for the bruise and also the duration since the injury.

If it is of recent onset then I'm sure the indentation is more because of the swelling rather than any actual structural deformity.

If it has been more than 10-12 weeks then there could be a possibility that once the bruise( blood) got absorbed some of the fat in the area which was injured during the primary event also got absorbed leading to the indentation. If so then though there might be an indentation may not cause any functional problem.

I would suggest if you could send us some pictures so I could have a look and get a better idea of what we are dealing with. But online consults will have some limitations. So the best bet would be to see a local surgeon after the healing is complete and get it assessed properly.

Hope what I said helps.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
