Question : Hi, I had my tonsils partially removed and now have discovered a large (size of my pinky nail at least from what I can see) tonsil stone in the area between my tonsils and throat. It tastes terrible and hurts moderately but my dilemma is that I have a strong fear of choking on it if it falls when I'm sleeping or breathing. I have to wait at least two nights for an appointment with my ENT but this anxiety is keeping me awake and hungry. Is it likely to choke me or is it an irrational fear?

                                    Brief Answer:
It can't happen . Relax.

HI

Don't worry , that will not happen .
While lying down , the maximum that can happen is that the stone can get dislodged and fall into the throat , in that case you will come to know and can spit it out .
But while in upright posture there is a possibility of the stone going down . But in case it slides into airway , before it enters only there are protective reflexes that will stop it from entering . So there is no chance of stone choking you.
So don't worry, relax.
Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.
