Suggest Treatment For Lethargy, Low Appetite And Skin Rashes In Children

Question: My grandson is 2 1/2 years old. For the last day or two he has been lethargic, fussy, and does not want to eat much. Today we noticed spots on his trunk. They are on his belly, under his arm, and on his back. The spots are raised but not fluid filled and approximately 1/4 - 1/2 inches long. He does not have a fever. What could this be? Are the spots relatd to the lethargy etc? I am attaching a photo of the spots.

Brief Answer:
Probably has a viral infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this rash that you have reported. I have reviewed the image fully and this is suggestive of a possible viral related rash. Fortunately, most of them require no specific treatment. This viral infection also explains why he’s lethargic. If he gets to eat well and drink enough with no other symptoms, monitor only at this time and anticipate spontaneous resolution unless something else comes up.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
