Question : I had one accident in Aug-2010 and had legament fracture in my left leg near ankle. I had one month of plaster that time. However still sometime i get pain if i sit for long time and when i try to walk after that. Is it normal or do i need to show it to doctor again? Will it have long term impact?

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome. It is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a ligament fracture in the ankle it is common to have an occasional pain in the area specially after prolonged sitting. This is not indicative of any fresh problem. Post traumatic stiffness and arthritis may happen.
To avoid this problem it is best to do a hot fomentation in the ankle and do regular physiotherapy exercises. This will help in maintaining the proper flexibility of the joint and the muscle strength. You can also apply a local analgesic gel over it for relief.
There is no need to go for further assessment in case the pain is occasional. If the pain is severe and recurrent then do consult your orthopedician to rule out any other pathology.
I hope this answers your query.
