Suggest Treatment For Ligament Injury Post An Accident

Question: My 17 year old son got in a car accident on May 29th. He banged his knee pretty hard on the dashboard. He since has had 2 sets of X-rays looked at by several pediatric orthopedic docs. It's been almost 3 weeks since the accident and second set of X-rays look good with no fracture. He cannot put weight on it for more than 10 minutes without the knee brace. With the knee brace it feels pretty good. His ortho feels he should be getting back to normal by now because there is no fracture but ordered an mri to be safe . She did not really say what she's looking for. What could it be if no fracture?
Thank you
Thank you
Brief Answer:
MRI scan required to rule out ligament injury
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms
Normal X ray will only rule out bony injury, even after 3 weeks if the repeat X ray does not show any fracture then cause of inability to stand is not due to fracture. In that scenario its important to rule out soft tissue injury ( There could have been injury to menisci or cruciate ligaments which connect the knee joint ) by getting MRI scan done.
So its important to go ahead with MRI scan to possibly rule out ligament injury .
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you

Thank you. The pain he's having is on the inside of the knee right next to the knee cap. Not on the knee cap but in the space next to it on the inside.

Brief Answer:
This still increases the probability of pain due to ligament injury
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
This description of pain very much increases probability that it could be due to ligaments injury which are present between the joint surfaces of femur and tibia.
I would suggest you to go ahead with MRI scan and get back with the result.
Awaiting your response
