Brief Answer:
It is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Let me assure you that for a child of this age, if he passes stool 10 times a day or once in 10 days, in either of the case there is no reason to be concerned. Both are absolutely normal. Unless the stool is hard or watery, you need not get concerned. In case the frequency of passage of stool seems to be more, all you have to do is to increase the amount and frequency of breast feeding. ORS or oral rehydration solution needs to be given only if the baby is not breast fed. You can prepare it by mixing one XXXXXXX of Pedialyte in 200 ml of water and giving it sip by sip.

For a breast fed baby no medicines are required unless there is blood in stool.

What the mother eats gets expressed in the breast milk and reaches the baby. But I do not think that anything wrong with your wife's meal is causing any harm. Your wife should take a healthy diet. Nothing specific. Apart from any unhealthy food, she can take anything and everything. I do not think that any specific restriction or recommendation is necessary.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
All you need to do is to give breast milk in increased amount

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Even if the child has diarrhoea, all you need to do is to give breast milk in increased amount. No medicines are required unless the baby becomes lethargic and stops feeding. In case these changes occur, you would need to visit a doctor without delay. Otherwise, with the mentioned symptoms, I would not really worry although I would not label these as 'normal'.
