Question : Yes I went to see my doctor about my left ear because I can't hear out. When he looked in my ear he said I have fluid behind my ear drum probably from allergies. But didn't give me antibiotics now it's been almost a year and I still can't hear out my left ear do you think my hearing is permanently damaged since it's been so long. And the reason I haven't been to the doctor for almost a year I have anxiety and panic attacks. When I'm around in public.

Brief Answer:
You need to see an Ottorhinolaryngologist and a Psychiatrist.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

No it doesn't mean your ear is damaged permanently. In fact to say all this it will be just a guess.

You need proper follow up with an Ottorhinolaryngologist and he will start the examination with otoscope. He may also go for an MRI and it will be clear how your inner ear is doing. If there will still be some problem with the middle or inner ear, he will manage it.

conduction or sensorineural hearing loss are two main varieties of hearing loss and a specialist is the trained personnel to differentiate and treat accordingly.

Please don't panic. It is for your own good health and safety. I preferably suggest you to take somebody with you to the clinic who you trust the most. This is a good way to cope with the social anxiety.

I suggest you to go for a Psychiatrist too to get yourself physically tested for Panic attacks.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.
