Posted on Wed, 5 Nov 2014
Question: My Wife is having BP reading of 95 (Sys), 60 (dia), 81 pulse. This seems to be usual reading whenever we take it from Inhouse BP Check Device.

She complains of irregular head aches and get tensed quite often.
How do we approach to treat this problem?

Brief Answer:
Need details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXXX,

Blood pressure <90/60 is considered as low blood pressure.

I would like to know how often she gets these readings?
Because of blood pressure (less than normal) she is having headache. Is she feeling dizziness?
is she having any medical history like hypothyroidism or any other?

Meanwhile I suggest you give her more fluids and water.

Kindly get back to me with details.

she is not having dizziness, she usually drinks a glass of water after brushing her teeth and this is regular.

she is not having hypothryodism but look at her at allergies for any clue.

The BP Readings are of this type usually; However, I plan to check this and record the details continuously, do you plan this to be checked at certain time of the day?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Suggestions below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX,

Thanks for your information.

I suggest you check her blood pressure same time in each day for 5 days continuously. Do not take when she wakes up that time blood pressure will be low.
Dehydration, low blood sugar levels or thyroid problems or skipping meals can cause low BP. Prolong standing also causes low BP.
I suggest her to drink more fluids like juices, coconut water and eat fresh fruits.
Do not skip meals. Do not stand for long time.
Tell her to do not get up from bed and chair suddenly which causes sudden changes in BP and leads to dizziness or headache.
Whenever she lies down or sits tell her to keep pillow below legs which increases blood circulation to upper body and helpful to increase BP.
If she will have low blood pressure continuously for five days then let me know then I suggest you further plan.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Let me know after 5 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I was glad to help you.
After checking continuously for five days, if you find same readings then she need to be investigated to rule out low blood pressure by doing blood tests like blood sugar, thyroid levels.
If you find normal levels then need to get investigations then it mostly may be due to dehydration or low sugar levels.
I also suggest her Multivitamin tablets like ZINCOVIT once a day after lunch.
If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
