Question : I have mitral valve leakage which could be corrected. However, my white blood count is only 300 due to MDS, so my cardiologist won't do anything to correct it. What can I do.
Brief Answer:
Consult a hematologist in person!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It would be best to talk to both a hematologist and an infectious disease specialist. I will suggest that he considers doing this surgery and put you on great antibiotics so as to prevent any possible infections.
White cells fight infection and if the count is low, we should increase infection control and propose systematic antibiotics for coverage. Please ask your cardiologist to consider this question.
Kindly let me know what his response is when he hears this. I wish you well.
