I already have surgery done 3 years ago which is total hysterectomy to remove the tumour from the appendix and biopsy was a pmp. can you please advise if this is cancer or watchful waiting is the best?

Brief Answer:
Watchful cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns about pseudomyxomaperotonei ( PP).

This is a cancerous growth (Mucinous Adenocarcinoma) which slowly increases over the years. Infact this has happened due to previous appendicular mass in your case.

PP in your case is a metastatic disease. If untreated this may get enlarged and make bowel movements difficult.

Therefore i suggest you undergo surgery to remove PP if they are many. If not , you can also opt for infusion of chemotherapy agent called mitomycin in abdomen.

Let me know if you need any more clarifications.

Regards
Dr. Soumya
