Brief Answer:
There are multiple reasons for low libido

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concern about newly found low libido.

As you might be aware that low sexual desire or libido is the commonest sexual complaints of females at any age. At the other hand it is caused by multiple factors.

One thing I want to make it clear that "there is no normal frequency or set of behaviors in sexual life and things tend to change with time.". I am stating this because many of my clients take the decreased frequency in sex as sexual desire. The frequency has nothing to do with sexual desire or libido. sexual desire is more than just an issue of low libido or sex drive. Libido is the biological part of sexual desire, which is manifested through sexual interest including sexual thoughts, erotic fantasies, and daydreams.

The other thing that need to be considered is that sexual desire normally declines with age till forty years and following this (read menopause ) you have increased libido and sexual desire, probably due to diminished fear of pregnancy.

Having said this decreased libido may be due to multiple factors. Before we act on this we need to know why this is happening. I commonly observed that women following pregnancy report decreased drive following pregnancy or child birth.

This is attributable to following important factors.
1. Increased burden of care- To counter effects on sexuality following child birth it is of atmost importance to share the responsibility with other family members. You need to work out the extra to find suitable time to spend quality time with your partner. I need to stress out here that going alone with your partner leaving the baby in custody of any other responsible family member.

2. Many of the women loss of self esteem due to change in their body image following pregnancy. If you feel that is also one of the factor you can hit gym to get in shape. Other than this a compliment from partner does wonders and helps in getting intimate to each other.

3. Many times there is change in relationship due to various factors including Relationship issues Lack of connection with your husband, conflicts or fights, poor communication of sexual needs and preferences and infidelity or breach of trust.
So problems in your relationship can be a major factor in low sex drive. If you have any of these issue there is urgent need to resolve before any damage is done to your intimacy.

4. Medical conditions- The other thing which may affect your relationship is common medical conditions like thyroid problems, diabetes, high cholesterol and liver disorders.
I request you to get these reports from your nearby laboratory.
a. Serum lipid profile
b. Fasting blood sugar
c. Post prandial blood suga
d. Serum thyroid profile
e. Live function tests
f. serum testosterone

other than these blood reports you need to think about possible reasons of low sexual drive.

I will wait for your reports and your point of view about possible cause of problem.
I hope this clarifies the situation at this stage. I look forward to work for you to resolve this problem.
Thanks and regards
Dr Ashok Kumar
