Brief Answer:
need to find the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Common causes of loss of libido in males are:
- Low testosterone level

- Medications specifically for blood pressure or the drugs affecting testosterone level

- Stress which can be social, economical, occupational, relationship

- Low thyroid level

- High prolactin level

- Any chronic illness like diabetes, heart disease

- Lower spine problem

- Disturbance in relationship with partner

You already checked testosterone and thyroid.

Let me know,

- Do you have any physical illness?

- Are you taking any medicines? If yes, provide the details

- You should go for serum prolactin level.

- Do you have any habit of alcohol or smoking?

- Stress level 6 out of 10 - which type of stress is there?

- Have you tried any medications for libido?

- Is there any injury in spine or any difficulty in urinating?

- Just to clarify, do you have loss of libido(decrease or no desire to have sex) or is there erectile dysfunction or both?

I will be happy to help further after your response.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

No physical illness.
Take ritalin.
Don't smoke, and drink occasionally.
Stress is work related and general stress about finances and the future financially.
GP prescribed Cialis, as a " test"', I "worked on" having intercourse that night. But had body pain for a few days afterwards, I believe was a side effect.
About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with lower back (I think L4 L5 disc bulge / herniation. No difficulty in urinating.
I think that I have a decrease in libido as well as no desire to have sex. I do not think that I have ED, although errecrio may not be as strong or as often as before.
Thank you for your help. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
add supplement , tackel stress

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for information and sorry for delayed response.

To improve libido there is no specific medicine. Testosterone helps in some cases but in your case it can be used caution as you have already normal level. You can discuss with your doctor for possibility of giving testosterone supplement if your level is on lower side in normal range.

I recommend one supplement called tetrafol plus containing pyridoxal-5-phosphate, mecobalamin and l-methylfolate (trade name tetrafol plus) is very helpful in my patients. It has shown improvement in 50-60 patients of mine with ED as well as patients with low or absent libido. You should take it after meal twice a day. If you feel some improvement in 15 days you should continue for at least 2 months. You may get this medicine over the counter as it is vitamin product. You need to ask your pharmacist/chemist to find out supplement with mentioned contents.

Cialis worked means there is no erection issue. However, sometime taking cialis may help in libido also. If you can continue in low dose (5 mg) it is better.

If you have no problem in back-spine, walking or urinating; there is no need of evaluation otherwise I recommend evaluation for that as this nerve route affects orgasm and in turn libido.

Also try to tackle stress. Follow healthy lifestyle. This includes regular daily exercise (walking or running), hygienic food habits (no junk food, no fatty food, preferably only home-made food with law salt and fat with more fruits and vegetables) and timely scheduled sleep. Yoga- meditation can also help.

Ritalin is not known to cause such side effect. It may cause erection problem. But if you have any doubt that your problem has begun after taking retalin it may be one of the possibilities.

I also recommend going for prolactin level.
