Question : I run and am 67 male.. Last spring - May, I developed a pain in my lower belly button muscle. I think it was a tender above my pubis bone. I think it came from doing humpty dumpties, kind of like leg lifts but different. I ran two marathons and a 50 k after that. In about August, I developed a high groin pain on the inside my crotch right side. I have had massages as they help sore tight muscles and other injuries. I had some sports med PT - stretches and more muscle/tendon massage. It is most anoying in the morning getting up and after a run. After a run it is very mnoticable sore for 24 hours. Afterwhich it goes back to background anoying. I should not be sore after a 3 mile run. I am thinking that something is torn. The joints are ok.

Brief Answer:
If it is not getting better after 4-6 weeks then a MRI is the next step

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

I would encourage you to stay around 4-6 weeks without doing the exercise that triggers the pain, because it needs that much time to heal completely. If you haven't already done that, then maybe that is why it is not healing. Take a pain killer regularly (which will lower the inflammation in the muscle) and be active but not overuse your legs.

If the above method is not enough and you have already tried that, then he best way to see if something its torn is to do a MRI in the site of the pain.
I would say that what is torn is not a tendon or ligament because since they have no nerves, those are not painful. And the joint would be unstable if that was the case. But again, a MRI would be the next step to finally say what is going on.

Hope this is helpful.
