Brief Answer:
Conservative therapy, if no response then work up

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Overweight, old age of 63, recent riding a bike now with back pain radiating to hips etc is likely a musculoskeletal with likely vertebral disc involvement pinching the nerves.

I would like you to rest for a while, do some physiotherapy exercises, take some pain killers you are already taking and add some skelaxin or any other muscle relaxants to it. Topical massages and application of pain creams is also helpful. heat therapy should be considered too.

if the pain persists despite these measures, then you will need an MRI of spine to rule out any disc degeneration or prolapse causing the nerve pain or rule out any other ligament sprain etc.

Try some home remedies before heading towards your doctor and let them run some tests to sort out the cause. I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
