Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: Hi Doc,
I am having lower back pain since 2 weeks now. I have tried muscle relaxants, hot water bag, volini cream, restricted weight lifting, limited seating time. BUt havent found much relief. Doc had provided mysopaz for 5 days and now myozpas forte for 5 days ( since 3 days ) . He asked me to get an MRI scan done. He tested sensitivity on right and left foot thumb fingers and told that right one seems to be less sensitive to touch and less resistive to push. I feel tension around the left and centre side around the waistline. Due to avoiding siiting for long durations, I tend to stand a lot. This also has resulted in thight and ankle pains offlate.

Today i felt better in the morning, So did a few very light stretches ( cat stretches ). Now again i feel the tension in the back. What do you suggest doc to help me get back to recovery as quick as possible ?? Does this ring a bell for complications at this stage ?

Brief Answer:
You may be having acute disc prolapse

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query
After going through your query I concluded that you may be having acute disc prolapsed as it is common in your age and it is not relieved by analgesics and muscle relaxant and also you are having some sensory deficit in feet.

It can be confirmed by MRI scan.

Its primary treatment is rest in comfortable position generally lateral position with both hip and knee flexed. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is used for pain relief. If this is not effective then strong analgesic such as tramadol can be used. Mecobalamine is helpful in sensory loss improvement. You can discuss with your Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help.
Wishing you a good health
Take care.

Brief Answer:
MRI beneficial to confirm disc prolapse and to rule out other diseases

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

I don’t strongly suggest MRI. But it will be beneficial to confirm disc prolapse and to rule out other diseases. I treat many of my patients by rest and analgesics without MRI by already discussed method. Walking is strictly avoided in initial days of treatment.

Since I live in XXXXXXX I don’t know about MRI centers of your area. I think your condition is mild to moderate and will improve with treatment already discussed.

You can discuss with your Doctor about it.
