Question: Over the last ten days for a period of 3-6 hours occurring every 24-39 hous I have had pain and siscomfort occurring. In between times I seem to be normal with even some energy if I got enough sleep. Even played a round of golf . I do not understand why a healthy person like me is suddenly experiencing these lower left side intestinal or lower pelvic pain. Can you help . No trouble urinatining or having small bowel movements as I do not eat as much now as previojusly because I started on a soft diet. No decoloration and no fever. Help?

Do I just wait it out as my body has always healed itself quite nicely in the past? I have had years ago an appendectomy and hysterectomy. I am active swimming three to four times weekly for 1 hour and I play golf one each week with our ladies golf group. I do not have a lot of extgra health care money but am on Medicaid if I have to go see a doctor. I do not like to go except for my regular check-ups which have been fine. My limited meds have always been reviewed and been good.

Brief Answer:
Diverticulitis can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Have you had any colonoscopy done? If so when?

Lower left abdominal pain is a very characteristic symptom of diverticulitis (inflammation of sigmoid colon diverticles).
Diverticles are a kind of pouches in the intestine wall. They appear with age and are very probable at your age.
You may have some loose stools or blood in stool from time to time. There might be a tenderness when palpating this area.

If its an inflammation, wont go away. Moreover, if left alone, can result with intestine perforation. That is why, it is strongly advisable for you to consult your doctor. Abdominal CT is the right test to diagnose it. If inflammation is will be confirmed, antibiotics treatment is necessary.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
