Question: I am healthy 60 year old female who has developed occasional sharp left lower quadrant pain the past 2 days. When I bend my leg it hurts walking is fine. Was constipated 3 days ago but starting to have soft bowel movements now. I do not see any blood in my stool. Just wondering could it be bowel related or strained muscle.

Brief Answer:
Possible bowel related pain or a joint pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your query.

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

From what you are describing, it may be a pain related to bowel because of constipation. Yes, you are passing lose stool, but the pain may be present some days after as well. So, if you have pain while you are not moving, and if Ibuprofen has not helped, then in this case it is most probably a pain related to bowel. In this case I would say to be careful with your diet, drink plenty of water.
If you have a pain only when you bend your leg as described, and felt better with Ibuprofen, then it may be a muscular pain, or a join pain. The coxo-femoral join may give this pain in general. In this case I would say continue with Ibuprofen taking it regularely 3 times/day for 1-2 weeks, and keep moving but not overusing the joint.

Hope this is helpful.
