Question: I have lumbar spinal stenosis. What can I do to prevent it from getting worse? Right now I am in pain and my doctor does not know how to treat it.

Lumbar Spinal Stenosis is treated in the following way.

1. Avoid Extension. this means, you have to bend forward as much as possible and avoid bending backward.

2. Proper Physiotherapy tailored to your precise level and quantum of Stenosis

3. Drugs
a. Gabapentin 300 mg two times for 6 weeks
b. B Complex two times for 6 weeks
c. Paracetamol 500 mg three times for one week
d. In few people other drugs like Baclofen, Pregabalin, Amitriptyline can also be used.

4. If pain does not come down, Absolute Bed Rest may be indicated

5. In very rare Instances, surgery may be needed
