Question: Hi, a little over a year ago I noticed a lump in my right groin. Blood was normal. US came back with 2 non enlarged lymph nodes next to each other with a normal short axis and normal helium. Went to 2 doctors and a surgeon who said I was perfectly fine. Last time I had my lymph nodes checked was with the surgeon in November 2013. Now I have a "lump" about 1.5 to 2 inches above my left collarbone. Painless, firm, and movable. it is about 1/2 inch thick and runs from the base of my neck to halfway to my shoulder horizontally. It almost feels like a tight muscle. What could this be. I have no other symptoms and feel great otherwise. But I am worried sick.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The painless firm and movable lump above the right collar bone that you have seen is likely to be an enlarged lymph node. The other possibilities are sift tissue swellings like sebaceous cyst or a lipoma. This is not due to a tight muscle.
For this, a FNAB (fine needle aspiration biopsy) of the lymph nodes and swollen glands is the best test. FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. This will confirm the diagnosis as swollen neck glands are often caused by an infection, allergic reactions, cancer or metabolic diseases.
I hope this answers your query.
