Question : I have a knot on my spine right above the end of my tailbone. it not too painful but seems to be getting bigger. it is very hard like it is part of the bone.

Wonder if it is a Pilonidal Cyst, and if it is how serious is it?

Brief Answer:
It looks like Pilonidal cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like a Pilonidal cyst.
It occurs in relation to hair. It is seen in hairy individuals who sit for prolonged period.
Surgery is the only option.
Please consult your Surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Nothing to worry.
It will heal well.

Thanks but I wanted to make sure you know there is nothing externally visible, no redness or swelling. The knot is internal and right on the bone, also not hairy at all. Any other possibility?

Brief Answer:
Another possibility is a Sebaceous cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pilonidal sinus/Cyst present subcutaneously. Hair will not be seen outside.Once the swelling is removed and if it is opened, hairs will be seen inside.
Another possibility is Lipoma or Sebaceous cyst . They have to be removed surgically.
Nothing to worry.
Consult your Surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
