Suggest Treatment For Lump On Left Clavicle

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Dec 2015
Question: Hashimoto's w/ goiter & increased nausea, headache, fatigue, lack of appetite. Excessive hair loss on head as well as eyelashes without regrowth. X-Ray ordered for hard painless lump approx. 3 cm on left clavicle. X-ray results normal, but ENT recommended possible fna/ultrasound/ct scan. Haven't been able to go to my ENT to look @ lump bc he is 5+ hours away so have been to local clinic to see nurse practitioner. Haven't got any feedback so was hoping for insight to whether or not this is normal w/ hashi's?

Brief Answer:
It needs FNAC and Ultrasound to reveal what this lump can be!

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for consulting me at HCM . Your trust in HCM means a lot to me as a Physician.

I have completely reviewed your health query, and can well realize all those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will give extend my expertise to solve the problems.

Only X Ray isn't sufficient to rule out the cause for this lump on left clavicle. This kind of lump may or may not be related to Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. So, no relation can be made without investigations (as your ENT Doctor has already recommended). It doesn't seem to be part of the thyroid issue. Even though it's really lot of trouble for you, I still suggest you to go for proper evaluation at least for once.

Your hair loss can either be due to autoimmune process or due to the Thyroid disorder. In the very beginning , use of potent steroids revert or stop this kind of hair loss if the cause is autoimmune. But if the cause is thyroid, getting the thyroid hormone levels to normal helps get rid of this issue.

Some foods that you need to take and they will improve your immunity and improve fast.
Broccoli, Citrus fruits, Red Bell Pepper, Ginger and Garlic, Yogurt, berries of your choice, Turmeric, kiwi, green leafy vegetables, dry fruits and nuts, Green Tea, apples grapes and coconut, sweet potatoes. These foods will help you remain healthy in the long run.

More investigations which has been advised by your treating physician will decide how to proceed further. Fine needle aspiration cytology will see the cells and tissues in this lump to see if the lump is malignant or benign growth. And also will tell the origin of the lump tissues.

Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you with my expert opinion.

Thank you, that was very helpful. I have an fna & ultrasound scheded tue. The only other concern I have is my pulse when resting is often 100 + (tonight it was 126). Could that be from the thyroid as well? Was going to mention it Tues unless its normal with these issues...thanks!

Brief Answer:
Yes, high pulse rate is definitely related to the Thyroid !

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for a follow up query and I am happy to assist you with the doubts you have regarding your health issue.

Yes, your high resting pulse rate is due to the thyroid disease. If a person runs or does some physical activity, heart beats fast-looks normal. But getting a resting high pulse is actually a genuine concern. Yes as you have the thyroid disease, it is related to that.
