Question: My mother in law has lung liver cancer and now has ascites. She went to have the fluid removed but during the ultrasound they said they couldn't find any fluid. Her stomach looks as if she is 9months pregnant. Any thoughts as to how we can reduce this? She is currently taking Xeloda & Temodor.

Brief Answer:
it is indeed a difficult situation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I am sorry to hear about your mother in law. It appears that she is having cancer which has spread a lot. As the abdomen has swelled but no fluid is seen, probably it is the tumor masses itself which are causing the distension. Hence the only way out is to try chemotherapy. If the current regime is not working then may be a different regime. The outlook is not good.

If you can send me the latest CT scans and biopsy reports then I can suggest better.

I will be available for follow up.
Regards
