Brief Answer:
Long term - avoid diuretics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Diuretics is not advisable with lymphedema and can cause fibrosis and worsening of lymphatic system.
2. Need to avoid diuretics. Not sure about reason for diuretics prescription. Discuss medication change. If bad bladder, increased fluid intake, will lead to excess fluid coming out.
3. If necessary for edema, where physical therapy and limb elevation is not able to reduce, short period of 1-2 days therapy can be helpful.
4. For diet, to-go diet would be better than duke for you. Eating healthy low carbohydrates diet is necessary.

Hope it helps.
