Question : My younger brother who is 47 yrs old, married for 13 years and having a son. Relation with his wife is not normal. He left his house with a note saying that he will not come back. He is moving from one place to other continuously which we are able to trace but not staying at one place for long time. Already it is about a month. Would like to know what is his mental health and why this behaviour ?He is away from home for about a month. Drawing money from his ATM Card and moving from one place to other like started from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX to Dabhel (XXXXX). Identified last on 8th Sep 14 in XXXXXX. He has not taken his XXXXXXX with him.
I would like to know his state of mind. Before going he has not discussed with anybody regarding his plans. We do not know whether it is preplanned or it happened suddenly. He has sent some money to his father in law for his son saying that "my son is your responsibility and I am not coming back".

According to my clinical experience, wondering here and there with regular spending of money commonly seen in psychological condition called Manic episode which last for few 2-5 months without treatment. It is associated with decrease sleep, irritability, big plans, increase socialization and overspending. In this condition patient need treatment from psychiatrist after active involvement of family members as most of the time patient do not know, that they are ill.
Other reasons may be conflict in family and depression. With currently available short information, planning of such behavior can not be commented.
