Question : Hi, i am 30 years old. During last 1 year my period has been changing from 28 days(as it always had been) to 32 to 35 days. Last time i got it on 29th XXXXXXX but it is 12 August today and i have not received my period yet. On 15th of July, my ovulation test came out positive but no period i got. Pregnancy test is also negative, and i am sure about it as i had protected sex twice only. Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Monitor up to the end of August 2014!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these menstrual irregularities you have mentioned. It can be troubling to have to deal with this.

With a negative pregnancy test and protected intercourse, the chances that you are pregnant are very slim. I am pretty sure this is no pregnancy. However, I will not recommend any aggressive approach at this time. I will suggest that you stay relaxed and monitor up to the end of this month(August) to see whether your menses return or not. If they do not return, then I will suggest that you seek further medical care. This is because many women with missed periods get spontaneously resolution without need for any specific medical intervention within 3months.

In all, this is not uncommon in women during their reproductive years. Observe and only seek further medical attention if your menses do not show up by the end of this month. This is not caused by pregnancy.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
