Suggest Treatment For Migraine And Nausea While Using Prednisolone

default
Posted on Sat, 11 Jul 2015
Question: I had PRK in one eye 1.5 weeks ago and am using Prednolone eye drops 4 times a day. I am now having very strange symptoms: a sort of inflamed feeling in my brain stem area and some slight nausea. Sort of like a migraine without the pain. I have suffered from migraines my whole life. Took Sumatriptan, no change. I haven't eaten anything strange--I'm stumped.

Prednisolone acetate drops, that is. Just wondering if they could be causing these symptoms.

I have a slight runny nose, which may suggest I am getting a virus or am having an alergic reaction.

Brief Answer:
Prednisolone eye drops are not responsible for your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
Prednisolone acetate is a steroid and this is not related to your symptoms of nausea....
This being a steroid controls inflammation.

Since you are having symptoms of runny nose the symptoms you have mentioned can be because of viral infection or flu.
This requires treatment by the use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs and anticold drugs.
Hence I advice you to consult your physician doctor for examination and prescription of drugs

Hope this information is helpful to you. Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards

Are there cases when a person is alergic to the steroid drops?
Does this symptom sound like it could be migraine-related?
