Question : I have had a rather depressing life. I had severe migraine headaches for 40 years and shy bladder since I was 19 which has really ruined my life. I am now 75 and have been struggling with depression for the last 40 years. I take paroxetine which helps a lot. I have had so many of family and friends die and I am pretty much alone. My wife divorced me 4 years ago and that cost me a lot of money. I just don't feel like I have anything to look forward to. I see a psychiatrist every 3 months, but they can only do so much.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for using Health care magic.

I am sorry to know that you have ongoing depression for last four decades and finding it difficult to cope with ever increasing losses in life.

At the same time, I am glad to know that you are seeing a psychiatrist on regular basis and his prescription of paroxetine helping a lot.

However, I feel seeking a help of psychologist will probably another option to add on treatment for ongoing depression and other issues in life. In my opinion, a companion either in life or in form of professional background can understand your needs better than a psychiatrist (I am sorry but it is true) and can help you in developing some of new interests and hobbies to fall on.

I am also of the opinion that finding meaning with your work will be another turning stone to have improved quality of life despite so many adversities.

I hope this helps you.
Wish you great health ahead.
Thanks and regards.
