Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

In this situation, you can start with either of the two as both are just the basic dose strength first line prophylactic drugs.Observe the response-if no adequate response with one drug, its dose can be increased and if still no response,it can be substituted with another drug. So,its a kind of hit and trial.

Prophylaxis should be continued till good control is achieved(may be 1 to 2 months) and then a tapering of the drug may be attempted.

If you have any further queries,I shall be glad to answer.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.
There is no such specification for propranolol.
You have to take it same time everyday, empty stomach or with food.
Usually in clinics,I ask my patients to take it empty stomach in the morning everyday.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have further questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Yes,in some patients nausea may extend for some period after the headache has resolved.

Surely, prophylactic medicines help in reducing nausea as well,as it is the part of symptomatology of migraine episode.
