Brief Answer:
No need for medications in mild cough

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I completely understand your concerns but don't worry. If your baby is breathing well without extra efforts and has no fever, then there is no need for any medicine for mild cough.

These coughs are usually due to self limiting viral infections which improve without any medicines. Just keep your baby well hydrated with regular feeds. If there are nasal secretions or blockage, then you may use normal saline drops every 4-6 hourly with mild nasal suction if required.

During feeds, keep the baby's head end up and always burp in middle of feeds and at the end. This will help him breath better.

You may use a room humidifier while sleeping if the weather is dry.

Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
