Brief Answer:
Try these OTC's: Tylenol, Milk of magnesia and Yoghurt (Prokinetic).

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Maybe you might be having an episode of a bowel upset. The facts remain that it may be an infection. I would advise you to take some Lactobacillus to stabilize your bowels. This means yoghurt. This is easily available in stores. As regards your gas and flatulence, I would request you to take a tablespoon full of milk of magnesia. this will neutralize excessive acid in your digestive tract, as this can also be a source of flatulence. The pain that you describe is secondary to flatulence. This is called sometimes in some cases as referred pain. I would ask you to counter this with Tylenol. In fact, you might want to get a stool test done to rule out infections and parasites. The above mentioned over the counter medications do not require a doctors prescription and should do for the time being.

Thank you for getting back with me.

I'm sorry, I may have stated that wrong. I am not having an issue with gas. I mentioned that so you would know that I did have a bowel movement, and I was able to pass gas. I read that being able to do those two thing was importan when determining what it may be.

Brief Answer:
Try topical diclofenac or dicyclomine tablets.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Pain in the lower left abdomen is usually due to accumalation of bowel movements, more so as opposed to pain in the right side which is more serious and due to surgical causes such as appendicitis. Given these facts, you might have experienced some relief on passage of stools and gas. If not then we are probably dealing with muscle pain that occurs commonly on the abdominal wall at this region. Given these facts, I would recommend a topical pain reliever cream, if worse and not resolved I would ask you to visit a local doctor a get a prescription for a visceral painkiller like dicyclomine, which is quite effective.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
