Question: molluscum contagiosum. Saw dermatologist, related a long time condition in my scrotum. says it's not molluscum contagiosum but a others were. 2nd opinion? Are these molluscum contagiosum ? I was diagnosed with pimple on the penis shaft and a few on the inner thigh. The 1st pix shows my scrotum - i believe i had these since i was young. Others are found in different parts of the body which the dermatologist did not examine. The scrotum ones she did as i showed but she says they were not. I am confused as i can tell which ones are and which ones weren't. She prescribed concentrated iodine tincture.

Brief Answer: not molluscum Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query and photographs. These lesions are not molluscum. There are two types of lesions present on your body. 1. The one on scrotum are called as angiokeratoma. These are dilated blood vessels. They are harmless, rarely bleeding can occur in them. 2. The red spots on body are called as cherry angioma. These are similar to moles and are totally harmless. Just relax both these condition don't need any treatment and are not infections. Also they are not going to harm you. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you.

Thank you, doctor, for the clarifcations. Let me give a background to my case. My attention to all these lesions came about when i noticed a small 1mm pimple on top of the penis shaft. At first, i thought it was a pimple. I pressed it and it was hard. I was a bit concern so i took a picture of that little "pimple" and consulted a demartologist online who suggested it wax molluscum and asked me to see a local dematolo here in shanghai. I saw her on Friday and she prescribed concentrated iodine tincture on the five molluscum pimples she saw. Oops! Sorry. I pressed the button before I could finish. I have been applying iodine on those five molluscum. The reason I consulted an dermatologist was that I wasn't sure whether those lesions you identified were molluscum. Now I am clearer. Doctor, I wish to attach photos of those "molluscum" for you to have a second look - these I did not submit in my first query. Can you confirm if they were indeed molluscum? Much appreciated. I tried to load three different photos but they keep replacing them with only one picture. XXXX

Brief Answer: New lesions are molluscsm Detailed Answer: Hello The fresh picture which you have sent shows molluscsm lesion unlike previous ones. In this context, I don't think tincture iodine will help you. These lesions can be simply removed with needle. Meet a dermatologist and ask to remove them. It is a very simple and short procedure. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Thanks for the confirmation. I don't know why the Chinese dermatologist i went to see prescribed iodine tincture. I requested for some sort of lazer treatment and she said it wasn't necessary. I am just frustrated with the medical services here. Thanks aga

Thanks, doctor. I am impressed by the standard of medical practices in india, truly. Btw, I sterilised a needle and removed four myself. I extracted out the red whitish substance, used isotrol alcohol and some iodine on them. You think that might work? I haven't got many - about 11 that i can identify scattered around the inner thigh, two on the scrotum and one on the top shaft of the penis. I understand they are extremely infectious? Will washing my clothing together with others infect orher people as well? That is virus pass on the washing machine onto other people's clothing? So far, there are n

Brief Answer: Not very infectious Detailed Answer: Hello It's good that you could extract them by yourself. That white material has to be removed, that is the cure for it. Molluscum is not highly infectious; but its better to take precaution. Just wash your undergarments yourself separate from other clothes. You can put rest clothes in washing machine. There is no problem in that. Regards

Thank you, doctor. I am a bit scared to remove the little one on the shaft of the penis and also the two on the scrotum. I read that Clove bud oil and tea tree oil can work? In fact I just bought the two, both 100% pure essential oil. You need you will work? I read about people getting successes in the internet. Much appreciated.

Brief Answer: clove oil may help Detailed Answer: Hello Clove oil can help you. It causes slight peeling of skin and hence can help in eliminating the virus. you can try it but be careful not to touch tip of penis with clove oil. It may cause burning sensation. If they are not getting cured, just wait till they grow bigger and then you can remove them. Don't worry, there lesions won't harm you. You can get them treated / removed any time when you go back home. Regards

Hi doctor, attached is a photo of the molluscum found on the top shaft of the penis ( there are no others). I am using iodine and yesterday started applying clove oil. Iodine has been applied using a sharp toothpick rolled with a thin layer of cotton. It has been almost five days since i first applied the medication. I peeled off a small layer of skin from the spot. Do you think the virus is dying or dead? Thx

Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (11 hours later)
Brief Answer: Better remove the lesion Detailed Answer: Hello I saw the photograph. If you see closely there is a white material seen in the lesion. This must be removed in order to eliminate the virus. Its good that clove oil is causing peeling of skin. You can continue with that. I think the lesion is quiet big you can safely remove it with a sterile needle. I am suggesting you this as you have already removed few of them successfully. Thank you.

I haven't got many molluscum lesions; a few on the thign, three in the pubic area. Interestingly the one that was on the top of the penis shaft was gone - iodine and clove oil made it dropped off by itself. Also there is a bigger one on the lower part of the scrotum - i pierced it a bit and applied iodine and clove oil carefully. I tried to remove by needle but i it was difficult so i tried this method to see. Of thar doesnt work, i will use the warterbater device. I did try this device on a small lesion on the inner thigh and it punctured it ! Too powerful - i should use it on low powerful next time. I have reading about the benefits of virgin coconut oil. Do you think it will work to prevent the spread? Thanks!
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (11 hours later)
Brief Answer: Be careful with instrument Detailed Answer: Hello If it is too powerful better be careful. Molluscum lesions are very superficial. Clove oil is a better idea. your body will slowly develop immunity. I dont think virgin coconut oil is required to control spread. Thank you

Doctor, i noticed that the "pimples" at the back of neck were molluscum. I had these for a long time and used to touch thinking they were pimples. I think these must gotten on my neck via the fingers of masseurs - everytime i go for a foot massage, they also massage my neck and they touch lots of different people everyday. Unknowingly i must transmitted the virus to other parts of my body. What do i do with these for the time being? I can't reach them myself, will applying coconut oil help? Or shall s friend to zap them with the electronic zappet set at low? Or gently pierce them and apply clove directly into the pimple? I am concerned because i can't them and the doctors here are hopeless. Thanks for your cobt

Brief Answer: clove oil is better Detailed Answer: Hello I think clove oil is much better option. Zappet may cause injury, as neck area has soft tissue. Clove oil may take bit longer time but it works well. Try that first. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you
