Brief Answer:
part of upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,

You are right, you have conjunctivitis. It is infection of the conjunctiva. Since you have a sore throat and stuffy nose , you have an upper respiratory tract infection and your conjunctivitis is part of it.

Do not worry. Upper respiratory tract infections are usually viral in nature and require only symptomatic treatment. You can use lubricant eye drops , they are available over the counter and help you with the soreness and irritation.

You can use cold fomentation for the eyes. DO NOT use hot fomentation.

For the sore throat you can take pain killers like Tylenol.

if your symptoms persist for more than 7 days or if the conjunctivitis flares up greatly then you have to see your doctor because you may need a course of antibiotics.

Yes, it is contagious. Use separate towels and discard used tissues immediately. Wash your hands frequently. You have a hygiene degree... I need not say any more.

Brief Answer:
part of the cold

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Eyes frequently get involved in VIRAL upper respiratory tract infections, typically seen in adenoviral infections. Do not worry, I have seen your pic and the conjunctivitis does not look too bad. It will get better in a day or XXXXXXX two.
