Question : Question: What can explain "fatty deposits" under skin of my male friend, age 82? Deposits are wide as golf ball but flatter. Scattered On upper arms, thighs, back, neck. He says his doc told him it's fatty deposits and no problem.
He walks 2 miles daily, hikes up mountains, is 6'0 , weighs about 160, is otherise solid and healthy, but I cannot get him to drink water. Instead he eats lots of soup, drinks ginger ale, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Most likely he has multiply lipomas under the skin. Lipomas are benign lesions build of a fatty tissue. If someone has a lipoma tendency, may have lots of them in all location of the body.
Lipomas are not a dangerous issue and usually can be removed due to cosmetic reasons.
It is good to have soft tissues ultrasound to confirm it.
