Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain In The Left Arm

default
Posted on Sat, 8 Apr 2017
Question: Good day. I've had this persistent discomfort under my left arm for several weeks. Certain spots are quite tender to touch. Sometimes the discomfort radiates to my left nipple. I don't have really any other symptoms related to the discomfort. I do have countless allergies, celiacs disease, and tremor predominant PD. Any insight would be appreciated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, Cardiologist.

Localized chest pain is generally not cardiac. Their are other causes of localized chest pain like muscle pain, costochondritis (inflammation of joint between bone & cartilage of chest wall. Both are treated with pain killer only & these resolve within a week.

As you are telling that you are having tenderness below your arm also, it could be some infection too. Their are lymph nodes below the arm. In infection of nearby area, they may enlarge & get tender. So it may be one of the reasons.

I'd recommend a Chest X Ray to rule out any chest condition.

The lymph nodes are ruled by physical examination only. So I'll recommend going to your physician to evaluate that.

Treatment will be as per the examination results. Till then for such patients we generally recommend pain killer like Tramadol & a antacids like Omeprazole/Pantoprazole.

I wish you a quick recovery.
Feel free to ask further.

Thanks
Take care
