Question : I had like a small spasm mid way down my neck like in the ligaments left of my XXXXXXX Apple. It remains sore and while my throat does not hurt I can feel a twinge when I swallow from the movement.

You are having a cervical spasm involving a lateral neck muscle. This happens due to an abnormal neck position or prolonged neck strain.
Take a muscle relaxant twice daily for few days. also take calcium supplements regularly.
Avoid any neck exercises.
Avoid using pillow.
If pain is high grade, use a neck collar for few days.
