Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion And Runny Nose In An Elderly Person

Question: Is it possible to develop an allergy after 60 years of age? I developed on going nasal congestion, runny nose and a little chest congestion 5 weeks ago. Ran a 1/2 marathon and it got worse. Saw a physician and it was diagnosed as a sinus infection (this is what I thought it was too, since I have had 2 others during my life). Took a 10 prescription of Amox-Clav and it helped. But the runny nose and nasal congestion remain. It's more of an annoyance than anything. Thanks for the help!

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Yes it's very much possible to develop an allergic response at or after age 60. Infact age has no strong correlation with whether an allergic response is there or not. Decongestants and antihistamines like pseudoephedrine and cetirizine should help overcome the congestion and runny nose.

wishing you best of health
