
Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion

Question : hi i have had the flu since the 3rd XXXXXXX 2016. It keeps going and coming. Have been to the doctor. Based on a blood test was told it was a bacterial infection and was given an antibiotics ceroxim 500mg for 5 days.
However i have a nasal congestion that is not going. Was given cerizine for 10 days. this has also finished. Can't take decongestion medication as i am hypertensive.
Could you advise. Thanks

In this context I feel you can consider local nasal decongestant such as Xylometazoline or oxymetazoline nasal drops two drops three times a day for five days under the supervision of your doctor. Local medication have much less side effect and very minimal systemic effects. I am sure these won't alter your blood pressures significantly.
Alternatively you should also consider steam inhalation and hypotonic Nasowash nasal wash if you have crusting or nasal discharge.
