Posted on Tue, 9 Sep 2014
Question: I was nauseous yesterday and both my vomit and stool we're dark brown - almost black - with just a tinge of red. I vomited about 3 times and was clammy during part of the day. I had no appetite - but had lunch today.

Brief Answer:
Suggest upper GI Endoscopy sos

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query.
I were to suspect bleeding from upper part of your GI tract.I were to assess your vitals, ask you to stay nil per oral, start intravenous fluids(depending on fluid loss) & do upper GI endoscopy to identify the cause of bleeding(peptic ulcer or variceal bleed) as early as possible.Stool analysis for presence of blood confirms blood loss.It is important to localize the bleeding site to prevent further recurrence.
Hope this answers your query.
