Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Tenderness And Bloating In The Abdomen

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Feb 2017
Question: Do I need to worry? Yesterday pretty severe RLQ pain. Was quite tender to touch. Felt nauseated. This AM pain is all but gone. Not really tender and my appetite is back. Only thing is my abdomen looks bloated (really bloated). No fever at all. No nausea. Had 2 BMs yesterday. I guess you can tell I am worried about appendicitis......but I think I'm over reacting. Both my Dad & my brother were about my age when theirs burst and both got gangrene.

Above is wrong: yesterday was very nauseated but did not vomit. Today I just want to eat, but worried that if this is appendicitis that could create issue. If this is appendicitis wouldn't I have a fever?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking HCM.

I read your symptoms and i understand your concerns.

Appendicitis has these symptoms:
-pain in the epigaster (stomach area) and than the pain "migrates" in the lower quadrant abdomen
-nausea with or without vomiting
-anorexia (loss of appetite)
-fever between 99°F (37.2°C) and 100.5°F (38°C)
-inability to pass gas

Now not always every patient has all these symptoms.

According to your symptoms, you have only nausea (24 h ago). 2 bowel movements. If you stools were soft (diarrhea) than the symptoms that you have correlate with gastroenteritis.

These signs are not specific for appendicitis. Since you have appetite, than you can eat. Don't worry.
Fever is present in most of the cases with appendicitis and is a specific sign, same as the "migrating" of pain.

When a patient has appendicitis,his/her pain don't vanish. It gets stronger and stronger with the passing of the hours. Also the appetite is not back and the patients gets worse.

If your pain persists, than i suggest you do an ultrasound of your abdomen and a blood test to check the white blood cells count. Don't apply any heat in your abdomen because you might worsen the symptoms.

If you have any other question, feel free to ask me.
