Question : My 84 yo best friend has had non systematic leukemia for as long as I've know her (10 yrs) 4 yrs. ago she was diagnosed with 3 other types of cancer 1.stage 4 lung (they removed the right lobes) full recovery 2&3. Liver cancer two different kinds of tumors, she went to Stanford to have special new treatment where they injected chemo directly into the blood supply of the Palm sized tumor, she has had multiple treatments of that kind since approx 2 per yr. Should we be conserned by nose bleeds? The 1 I witnessed was while I was driving her to a movie, the other was just while we were on the phone this morning
Brief Answer:
Please consult your doctor at the earliest...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query.
Normally the nasal bleed in the elderly is due to various reasons such as dry nose, rupture of small aneurysms in the nose, increased blood pressure, altered hemodynamic system because of the medicines taken, etc.
In your friend's case, there could be reduction of platelets or vitamin K due to impending medical problems. Reduction of either of them can prevent blood clotting.
Hence, it would be wiser to consult your doctor at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query; Ill be available for the follow up queries.
