Question : My wife was complaining of occasional abdominal or sometimes lower back pain. Sometimes it was felt on the lower left side, sometimes above near the diapharm. Suspecting hernia, she visited a doctor and got an abdominal ultrasound done. The report mentions a bulky uterus, and one of the two fibroids which were present from before appears much larger now. Unusually heavy bleeding is not present though.
To get to the cause of the bulky uterus , what tests are needed ? Does the large fibroid need surgery /IUD treatment ?
She did have a cesarean in 2014.

                                    Brief Answer:
No active treatment needed right now.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The ultrasound scan shows two small fibroids that do not interfere with her bleeding. These fibroids are benign masses and when these are less than 5 cm in size and are not causing any problems then no treatment is needed. She needs to have an annual ultrasound scan to monitor its growth.
Bulky uterus refers to a slightly larger size uterus that is due to fibroids in this case. So no further investigations for bulky uterus are needed.
