Question : HI name is XXXX .. my father is suffering from carcinoma in tongue and neck . he completed 8 cycles of chemo therapy in PET SCAN still showing the growth

Yes, by all means there is a tumor recurrence .This can indicate a therapeutic failure.

Now it is important that, radiation therapy is started.

There is tumor recurrence in the lymph nodes as well as the tumor bed as per the PET SCAN SUV uptake value.

It is important that you consult a radiation oncologist at the earliest .

Radiation therapy like EBT-external bean radiotherapy is the best option.

Also, brachytherapy can be a seen a suitable option.
