Suggest Treatment For Oral Thrush

Question: I have oral thrush on my pharynx and vocal chords - diagnosed with a scope by my ENT doc. I had been using Qvar and stopped though. I also took prednisone while on the Nystatin. The ENT Doc gave me Nystatin to rinse and swollow but, of course, that doesn't actually reach my vocal chords. I am not completely well and cannot clear my vocal chord area. Should I go back and get Diflucan or something else? Would more of the Nystatin even work? I am much better though.

Brief Answer:
Oral anti-fungal is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

Vocal cords and pharynx is the most unusual site of thrush development, very rare indeed.
Requesting for further information.
Would you please post the photographs of the reports or the endoscopy if available?
Are you diabetic / Asthmatic ?
Why was the steroid given ? Any other medicines you are using at the moment?

QVAR® (beclomethasone dipropionate HFA) Inhalation Aerosol can be the reason.
Anyway you have stopped it for good. Nystatin alone will not help as it will not reach there.
In most of the cases oral anti-fungal tablets such as Diflucan as you have mentioned helps a lot. You need to get a prescription and complete the course. No topical sprays or oral steroids please, you can ask for non-steroidal bronchodilators if you are asthmatic. Take multivitamins, therapeutic dosage of Vitamin A and D. It does help indirectly for rejuvenating the mucus membrane.

You have to avoid the factors which caused this problem as it may recur if you are exposed to the causative factors.
