Question : Hi, I am a 68 year old female with a small cyst on my right ovary. I had a transvaginal ultrasound today, and am still in extreme agony. oddly enough the worst pain is on the left side , and not where the cyst is. i had several surgeries 39 years ago, and i am concerned that the reason for the extreme pain thatbrought me to the doctor in the first place has to do with scar tissue entangling some of my organs as i also have severe bladder pain and pelvic along with incontinence to a point. is there a way for them to tell if there is scar tissue involved? I had my uterus removed 39 yars ago, but they left my ovaries.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Brief Answer:
Adhesion diagnosis is by laparoscopy only
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) You are right . This pain could be due to scar tissue entangling organs ( Called adhesions).
2) If the pain is due to adhesions resulting from previous surgeries, it is not possibile to diagnose it by doing any simple tests.
3) Only way to check for the adhesion ( entanglement of organs by scar tissue) is by doing diagnostic laparoscopy surgery and release the adhesions in the same procedure.
I hope your doubt is clarified.
Let me know if you have any more queries.
