Suggest Treatment For Pain And Difficulty While Bending

Posted on Thu, 24 Nov 2016
Question: I am unable to bend or stoop. Very difficult to get in or out of the car, or to bend to sit on the toilet. Pain killers or muscle relaxers, prescribed by my physician, do not seem to help.

Brief Answer:
Lumbar spondylosis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Inability to bend or stoop at your age can be due to spondylottic changes in the lumbar spine. These are age related degenerative changes in the spine due to lack of flexibility.
The symptomatic relief can be had with pain killer, muscle relaxants, hot compress and local analgesic gels. MRI scan of the spine is needed for proper diagnosis. Regular physiotherapy and back strengthening exercises are the only way to make a flexible spine and to retard the further progression of the problem.
I hope this answers your query.
