Question : Hi. I am experiencing pain and stiffness on the front of my right knee. I've taken indomethacin pills for the pain and have only marginal relief. There is some redness in a few spots in the area of the pain. I was recently on a ladder and my knee was pressed against the ladder rungs as I leaned forward near the top of the ladder. I have not had chronic knee pain in the past. BTW I'm 70 years old and counting, and an am generally in good health.

Thanks for posting your query.
This can be due to a minor soft tissue injury causing an inflammation in the knee. Give rest to the area do a hot compress and continue with pain killer. You can also apply a local analgesic gel on the area. Using an elastic brace will be helpful. in case the pain or swelling increases then do consult an orthopedician for an examination.
