Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Leg

Question: My Wife is pain in leg.
During second half of the day I have regular pain and swelling in my leg.
Before sleeping she applies Volini(Ointment) and the pain and swelling is not there in the first half of the day but it again comes back ( both pain and swelling) in second half.
She is a home maker and we have daughter to whom she do a breast feeding.

Yes both legs are affected

Yes it becomes red and there is small reddish mark on whole leg( blue nerves are visible).
3)Is there any edema?If on pressing the swollen leg with a finger leaves a pit like
depressed area,then edema is present.
No.

From last one month.

None.

Thanks for being in follow up and providing details.

With the present clinical scenario,I would suggest you to get a 'Thyroid function tests' for your wife as Hypothyroidism can commonly present like this.

Further,it is advisable to get her examined by a general surgeon for the possibility of chronic venous insufficiency.
If edema is detected on examination by the doctor,then some additional investigations like kidney function test,liver function tests,serum protein and haemogram may be needed.

There are no specific dietary restrictions or requirements over this clinical issue.
Further,there are no empirical medicines which should be given for it unless the diagnosis or the cause of the leg swelling is confirmed.
